proper covers almost 400 square miles. Due to the enormous amount of suburbs and
satellite cities that stem from Dallas, the entire County is now considered an
urban region. The Trinity
River and its many tributaries meander throughout Dallas County, feeding its
many enchanting lakes and recreation areas. Starting out as an agricultural
region, it grew into a manufacturing center in the mid 1800's. With the advent
of the railroad in the early 1900's, Dallas County's manufacturing industries
grew rapidly. As the city of Dallas blossomed into one of the leading cities in
the nation, the County's prosperity and economic strength grew with it.
