Dell Laptop Recall
Dell Computers is recalling more than four
million lithium ion batteries from a wide
range of notebook computers. The batteries
were made for Dell by Sony, and contain
particles inside that can cause them to
burst into flames.
This is a huge recall,
and could apply to anyone who has purchased
a Dell laptop between April 2004 and July
18, 2006. Please visit
Dell's Web site for detailed information
on the models affected, or call (866)
342-0011.
Dell recommends that you run your
laptop only on AC power until you receive
your replacement battery.
Chronic Fatigue And Immune Dysfunction
Syndrome
A number of our Social Security disability
clients suffer from chronic fatigue and
immune dysfunction syndrome. The
CFIDS Association of America has a very
helpful Web site with information and
resources for those who suffer from this
debilitating condition. From the site:
Chronic fatigue and immune dysfunction
syndrome (CFIDS), also known as chronic
fatigue syndrome (CFS), myalgic
encephalomyelitis (ME) and by other names,
is a complex and debilitating chronic
illness that affects the brain and multiple
body systems. On this portion of our website
you can find detailed information about
CFIDS, its symptoms, diagnosis, treatment,
important research findings and how it
affects the lives of those who live with it
everyday.

New Immigration Law Department at Kraft
& Associates
Kraft &
Associates is proud to announce that our
firm now has an Immigration Law
department, staffed by experienced and
competent people. We will be glad to
visit with you about any immigration law
question, and if you mention this
newsletter we will waive our normal
consultation fee.
Mr. Angel Cruz is our bilingual
(Spanish) attorney. Mr. Cruz has handled
hundreds of immigration matters and
would like to help you with your
immigration questions and issues.
Ms. Nora Ramos is our bilingual
(Spanish) lead Immigration Legal
Assistant. Ms. Ramos has several years'
experience in the immigration field, and
will be able to assist with many legal
questions that you may have.
Ms. Sara Johnson is our trilingual
(Spanish and Russian) Immigration Legal
Assistant. Ms. Johnson recently attended
the four-day conference of the
Association of Immigration Lawyers of
America, along with Mr. Kraft and Mr.
Cruz. There, she received the most
up-to-date information on Immigration
Laws and Reforms.
We believe there is a growing need for
legal help in the immigration field. The
federal government has just released a
new report showing that about 11 million
foreign nationals without valid
documentation were living in the United
States at the start of 2006, up from
about 8.5 million at the start of the
year 2000.
Mexico is the largest contributing
country of undocumented immigrants, with
nearly 6 million in the United States in
2005. El Salvador, Guatemala, India, and
China followed with a combined
contribution of about 1.4 million
unauthorized immigrants.
California had the largest undocumented
immigrant population, with 2.8 million
in January 2005, followed by Texas with
1.4 million, and Florida with 850,000.
We care about those people, but just as
importantly, we want to help those
foreign nationals who are in the United
States legally, and who need to
adjust their visa status, or want to
become nationalized.
Our firm handles both family-based and
employment-based immigration matters.
Most of our clients seem to be more
interested in the family-based
immigration procedures.
Here are a couple of the most common
questions we get:
Who Qualifies for a Family-Based
Visa?
• Immediate relatives (husband, wife,
unmarried children under 21, and
parents) of United States citizens,
• Unmarried sons and daughters of lawful
permanent residents,
• Married sons and daughters of U.S.
citizens, and
• Brothers and sisters of U.S. citizens.
Who is a Lawful Permanent Resident?
A lawful permanent resident is someone
who has a "green card." As a lawful
permanent resident you have several
important rights, including the right
to:
• Live and work permanently in the
United States,
• Travel in and out of the U.S.,
• Help other family members (spouse and
unmarried sons and daughters) immigrate
to the U.S., and
• Apply for U.S. citizenship, after
waiting several years.
At Kraft & Associates, we would like to assist
you with immigration questions or
problems right from the beginning, so we
can properly advise you and help to protect your
rights through the entire process. We
can assist you in the initial filing of
your visa petition, help with renewals and
submissions of additional evidence, and
can represent you in hearings or
interviews before an Immigration Officer
or Judge if and when that becomes
necessary.
At the law firm of Kraft & Associates,
we will be pleased to assist you with
any questions you have regarding any
aspect of Immigration law.

Latest Developments
in Vioxx Litigation
Our law firm has accepted many Vioxx claims,
and through this newsletter we try to keep
our clients informed of the current status
of Vioxx litigation.
This month, a jury in the second federal
Vioxx trial awarded $50,000,000 in actual
damages, and $1,000,000 in punitive damages, to a 52 year
old man who took Vioxx for almost three
years before suffering a heart attack. The
heart attack was not fatal.
On the same day, a state judge in New Jersey
overthrew the verdict in an earlier trial
that Merck had won, because the judge found
that Merck had not been forthcoming during
the trial. So it was a great day for Vioxx
claimants, and a very bad day for Merck.
With the Merck loss in the federal trial and
the overturning of the New Jersey trial
(that case will be retried in the future),
Merck's win-loss record drops to 4-4. The
manufacturer of Vioxx has now lost as many
trials as it has won.

Our firm is currently
representing someone who was rear-ended by a drunk
driver. The defendant was apparently driving far
above the speed limit, and paying no attention to
(or was too drunk to be able to understand) the
traffic situation around him. Our client's large SUV
was crushed from the rear to the center.
Fortunately, our client did not suffer fatal or
catastrophic injuries.
The most frightening part of this story is that our
client had a baby seat properly strapped into the
rear seat of the SUV, and the baby seat was mangled.
It was only luck that our client's baby was not in
the vehicle at the time.
What are the morals of this story? First, do not
EVER drink and drive. Second, ALWAYS wear your
seatbelt when you are in a vehicle. Third, even though you
have purchased a high-quality child seat and
followed the instructions for installation, your
child is NOT protected if the impact is severe
enough. Stay aware of traffic not only in front and
to the side, but also behind you. If you see a car
coming at you at a high rate of speed, or one that
is weaving side to side, try to change lanes or pull
off the road and avoid the car behind you. Doing
this could save your life or the life of your child. |

| HOW
CAN WE HELP YOU? |
 |
|
Our law firm has helped thousands of clients
over the years. Sometimes clients who use
our firm for one type of case may not
realize that there are other legal problems
we could help them solve.
We handle
most types of injury claims — including
automobile collisions, "slip and fall"
cases, injuries suffered as a result of
defective products, injuries resulting from
inadequate security, medical malpractice
claims, nursing home negligence claims,
prescription drug injuries and many others.
We invite you to call us about any
serious injury to see how we can help you.
Kraft & Associates also represents people
who have been denied their Social Security
Disability benefits. We can help at the
Initial stage, the Reconsideration stage or
the Hearing stage.
Our firm represents people who have been injured on
the job and are making a claim for workers'
compensation. We help people who have problems
regarding family issues, such as divorce, child
support, adoption, modifications, enforcements,
attorney general disputes, paternity and other similar
matters. We also represent clients who have been
arrested or charged with committing a crime.
Please feel free to call us with any
legal questions you may have. If we cannot
represent you, we will attempt to refer you
to another attorney or to a government
agency that can help you. There is never any
charge or obligation for our initial
consultation. |
